JT Venture Partners plans to open an office in Silicon Valley in
the second half of the year and will hire a partner to handle deal
flow in California. The firm currently has offices in Boston and
Denville, N.J. Shaji John, managing partner in Boston, explained
that most new start-ups are coming out of Silicon Valley and the
firm wants a dedicated an investment professional in California,
rather than having partners traveling to the West Coast. John and
Thomas Thekkethala, co-founder and managing partner, spend half of
their time in California.
While it has not been hard to find candidates with the right
credentials and technology background, it has been difficult finding
one that is the right fit, John said. Since JT Ventures is an early
stage fund, it is seeking a partner that has expertise in the
telecom/networking infrastructure, storage infrastructure and
software technologies, which are the firmÕs areas of focus. Also, JT
Ventures is looking for a candidate that has worked in the industry
for five to 10 years.
